Wednesday, August 30, 2017 - A lot of Argentinian Malbec is thick textured, sweet fruited and somewhat oaky. This wine from organic gapes grown at an altitude of 1200 metres is unlikely to please fans of that style but it pleases me and is closer to the more austere and elegant style of Malbec's mother region, Cahors. Dark coloured with a lively bouquet of anise and quinine tinged raspberry, plum and bramble dominated fruit on the nose, it showed medium/full body with more bright fruit, replay of the aromas from the nose, lean quite silky texture, lively mineral infused acidity and enough tannic grip on a decently long finish to complete the balance. Good+ wine and good QPR at c.€8.
