Monday, December 31, 2007 - BV night at the "Old World Brother In Law's." The OWBIL’s LA daughter spent all day preparing Beef Bourguignon for a family dinner and the OWBIL commemorated these efforts by bringing up three BVs to enjoy with the meal. We tried Private Reserves from 1995, 1997 and 1998. The 1997 was fresh as a daisy and fabulous with a big nose and palate of black cherries, black currants, cassis, leather, tobacco and lots of spicy, cedary oak accents. The finish was intense and about a mile long. This is an outstanding old school Napa big boy with a long, long ways to go.
