Sunday, May 20, 2012 - From 75cl, inferior short dry cork crumbled into bottle on opening, but wine mercifully unaffected. Decanted not quite clear of powdery sediment, left for an hour, but I'm not sure it profited from the air time. Stunning pure amarena cherry and blackberry scent, superb linear palate with a luxury seamless carpet of thick glycerine, unctuous (but never cloying) sweetness, penetrating acidity and smooth, purring tannins. A cornucopia of supremely ripe dark fruits, blueberry, blackberry, loganberry... Xberry... Finish a bit short, but with deeply satisfying vanilla. This is the best Aussie Shiraz I have yet tasted; for me it rivals the finest 1998 Aussie Cabernets (Parker 1st Growth, Coppermine Road, Bowen Estate etc.) in my hedonistic Down Under quality firmament. Beautifully mature now, will doubtless keep for a decade at least, given good cellaring. 95P
