Friday, November 2, 2012 - Immediately after opening: Horse/barnyard nose with no fruit, Very light fruit on the palate, thin, one-dimensional.. No finish to be found. Made me sad for a Beaucastel. Threw in a decanter and hoped for improvement with air. One hour later (pour from decanter): Slight brett nose.. perhaps the nose has thinned even further?.. Still one dimensional and thin on the palate. No fruit to be found. And is that TCA or is that just the funk of Beaucastel making an appearance?. Still not pleased. One more hour in the decanter and in the glass: TCA/funk has become more obvious in the nose and taste. I can't decide if this is corked or just dead. Perhaps it is a bad bottle, perhaps it is over the hill.. It is not obviously corked but it isn't on par either. It's drinkable but I hope for better things with the remaining bottle. Probably will not wait much longer to find out as I feel this bottle may have already peaked.
