Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - Opened 4 hours before serving, 2 of which were in a decanter. Very dense, powerful aromatics of crushed red and black raspberry. Black cherry as well, with dense brown baking spices. The oak is showing a bit in the aromatics as well. The same berry and cherry fruit flavors come through on the palate. Moderate spice on the midpalate with a firm backbone. Medium plus weight with a long, gripping, spicy finish. I look forward to checking in again down the road.
