Wednesday, December 31, 2008 - 14.25% alc. Popped and poured. Very tight and acidic nose upon initial opening. After about 90min of air, stronger aromas of underbrush, spice, and mocha come through along with similar notes repeating on the plate. Dried cherries and blackberry notes add to the complex and balanced midpalate. Finish is long and graceful with firm acid and mild tannins adding backbone and balance to this wine. I think that this still has a few years before its peak. With a brief decant or air this wine is a stunner now.
