Saturday, October 18, 2014 - Another powerful, immensely structured wine that feels much younger than its 19 years. This spent a few hours in a decanter before we got to it, but still needed a lot of time in the glass to open up. When it did though, it was worth the wait, eventually showing a beautiful aroma combining cedar, dark fruits and graphite with more exotic smoky and sandalwood-like notes, and very pure, bright fruit on the palate framed by more savoury and spicy accents. The tannin still lingers on the back end though, suggesting this definitely needs some more time in the cellar, but I imagine this will turn into something quite compelling with enough time.
