Sunday, May 17, 2015 - Lots of cassis and red/black berry fruit, with none of the herbal character the less ripe vintages can have. There's some hints of oaky vanilla/chocolate but they are pleasant accents rather than obtrusive. This is quite rich and dense, with lots of concentration, with a nice gravelly edge to the finish. There's still quite a bit of structure that and acidity to hold it together, the fruit isn't overly sweet or raisined. Just starting to show hints of cedary/tobacco development, but really still quite primary. Very nice with a ribeye. If I had any more I would wait a few years longer, I think this wine still has more aging potential. A bit of a riper style for Black Cat, but a lovely example.
