Saturday, January 20, 2007 - Purchased from a restaurant wine list. Perfect cork. From the moment the cork was popped I could smell the wine. Intoxicating aromas of flint, mineral, spice, cocoa, tobacco and some tea leaf. Man oh man, this is one heck of a nose, just gorgeous. The palate is gorgeous, silky, resolved, a nice core of sweetness and with excellent persistence. There is a fairly strong vein of acidity that asserts itself throughout the night. A wine of pure femininity and finesse. Lacks the sheer power and more rustic sex appeal of the 1983 Cheval Blanc, but this is a suave, mature polished wine. Really darned nice from beginning to end. Consumed over the course of 2 hours.
