Friday, February 22, 2013 - Chú Xī (除夕) Dinner at Home for Chinese New Year (Our House, Hong Kong): Semi-translucent, jewelled blood-red colour. Nose is gorgeously sultry and engaging....graphite...higher tones....strawberries.....gosh, that rare class of wine which resonates inside your head just from inhaling it. Palate is light-textured, silky, tart but rich strawberry fruit. It lacks the profound depth and richness of the 1988 Haut Brion we drank alongside but it has a beautiful character of iron fist in a velvet glove.....chiffonesque....so elegant....light and ethereal...superb resonance and length on the finale. Gorgeous...and in its perfect drinking window as best as I can judge.
