90 Points

Sunday, December 5, 2004 - The 2002's from Chandon de Briailles have been some of my favorite wines this year (especially the Pernand-Vergelesses "Ile de Vergelesses"), so I was very excited to try this. This is also an outstanding wine, though considerably more backward at the moment and more serious in character. In contrast to the higher-toned red fruit of the Ile de Verglesses, this has a gorgeous mix of red and black fruits on the nose, with a serious, leathery character on the palate and a long, minerally finish. This will need some time to show its best, but the potential is clearly there.
