Wednesday, March 12, 2008 - It was my birthday and so we pulled out one of the older bottles in my cellar. I bought this wine in 1985. This was the last of a case. It has been about 8-10 years since I had one of these. The ullage was below the neck. I really did not expect much. I thought the wine must be bad when the corkscrew pushed the cork into the bottle. Oops. I poured it through a coffee filter into a decanter and quickly opened a 2003 Clarendell rouge as a back up, not expecting much. What a great surprise. The wine was very, very good. Dark in color, very little tannin but good body. Wonderful fruity typical old Paulliac bouquet. What a delight to drink an old world style wine.
