1982 Château Lynch-Bages

Community Tasting Note

94 Points

Monday, October 24, 2005 - Opened for my grandma's 79th birthday. Beautiful garnet color with slight bricking at the edge. On the nose there is cassis, leather, and faint cedar. The palate is quite expressive of the aromas first encountered on the nose with substantial fruit to balance the maturing tannins. This wine was not decanted, but did become more enjoyable in the glass over a 2+ hour dinner. Certainly drinking well tonight, but will last for several more years. I probably would have scored this wine higher tonight, but was congested and sick, and couldn't appreciate all of the sublte nuances of a mature red Bordeaux.
