Monday, December 19, 2011 - Ruby color with some distinct leafiness that harkens to Pichon Lalande. Medium bodied, well balanced and although quite herbal (I like this character) , I can see that there would be plenty of people who would call this a fault. Not me. It adds freshness and a crunchiness to the fruit. Soft leather, tobacco, black olives, cassis and stony fruits, with a little baking bitter chocolate on the back end. The tannins are in a nice place now and the wine has a great mix of fruit and savory, primary and secondary traits, with nothing out of balance. While this will hold for several more years easy, I doubt it will gain much complexity. A very nice drink that will do well with my lamb Kafta tonight. A well balanced, enjoyable, polite, very claret like wine. This is not a profound wine, but for me there is great joy in hitting a wine regardless of pedigree at its apogee, and I feel like this happened tonight. Outstanding. 90pts
