Thursday, March 15, 2012 - Immediate nose of dark cherry, violets, plum, peat and funk on the pour of a 2 hour decant that showed a beautiful deep purple color. A year ago, the astringent bite of the first taste was overwhelming - today, it is nearly gone on the pour and dissipates after 30 mns glass time. This has entered its drinking window; tannins have relaxed and dark and dark-red fruit is broad enough to cover the palate, it's picked-up weight and depth, and now becomes delicious after 2 hours of glass time. This will continue to improve over the next 2-3 years - will be worth the wait.
