Saturday, February 21, 2009 - Drank with friends over dinner at our home. Perfect bottle but cork broke off at the botton quarter, although to no ill effect. Very heavy sediment. Great still rich red transparent colour with little bricking. Lots of brett, which remains throughout the evening but not unpleasant, touches of underarm sweat, some saddle leather and overall a nicely perfumed older nose of classic Bordeaux. Attractive palate of older drier fruits and a touch of preserved cherries held together with some grip by powdery tannins and un-austere acidity. Short but enjoyable length. Overall, a feminine, understated but quite beguiling older and fully mature wine from an unremarked vintage. An example, I'm sure, of top maker quality triumphing over the elements.
