Friday, May 24, 2013 - Rather pale, but only moderate browning. Decanted only briefly and served. Lovely bouquet of flowers and earth. Silky smooth, integrated tannins. Moderate red fruit. Elegant. Lovely. Shows age in the integration of flavors but none of the funky flaws that can arise. This was a perfectly stored bottle that never left Remoissenet that was probably still not far from its peak. I would think most bottles are past their peak.

This rating is probably a bit biased for it had the added aura of occurring at Maison Remoissenet where, while touring the cellars, Bernard Repolt heard a friend notice the cache of this wine in a nook and commented to my wife "Look it's your name!" and my wife replied, "Yes, and it is the year I..." Bernard stealthily pulled a bottle from the cave and shared it with us at the end of the tour! A bottle to remember forever!
