Thursday, December 11, 2008 - Popped and poured.
Some crystals on the cork, and obvious sediment on the neck of the bottle. Decanted using a fine mesh screen as a filter.
Color: Dark garnet lighter at the rim.
Aroma: Light dried cherries. Not getting much else.
Texture: Seems a bit rustic and unfiltered with a grainy texture. Not unpleasant, however.
Taste: Dry cherries, some leather, plums. Seems a bit too hot to me.
Overall: This is simple yet enjoyable wine. I get the impression this will fall apart rather quickly so it seems pop and pour is the way to drink this. Get a few of these to serve at large gatherings where bottles empty quickly.
