Friday, December 23, 2011 - Beautiful deep ruby color. Fairly restrained but pure nose of spicy cherries and minerals. I am immediately struck by the power and weight of this Volnay which has delicious minerally cherry fruit and a wonderful silky texture. There is great balance and strong mid-palate presence giving the impression of a "fat" yet "structured" wine that is tightly coiled now but seems perfectly poised for aging. Enjoyable now for it's purity and freshness but this will need many years to evolve. 93+
