Saturday, May 10, 2014 - Medium ruby. Intense blast of black cherry that was quickly overtaken by soil, and later by leaves and herbs. Lighter weight, persistent core of acidity more than tannin at this point. The fruit became more sour cherry over time and the herbs steadily spoke more forcefully. This is a "mind's eye" Gevrey Premier Cru-delicate, complex, and earthy. Having tasted many more recent Fourriers, I doubt the fruit here was ever as exuberant as it is these days-this probably started out in a more classic Gevrey mold, which it certainly shows at age 12.
