Monday, November 24, 2014 - Corked. 2nd of 2 bottles from Garagiste and both were flawed.

11/27/2014 1:06:00 AM - I hope you understand that "corked" wine is one that has been tainted by TCA, and that the wine was flawed the moment the winery inserted the cork in the bottle. The signature of a heavily corked wine is a wet newspaper or moldy smell and also a very stripped palate lacking weight and fruit. No retailer is responsible for this.

Now, if the wine was "cooked" or "oxidized", that could be the fault of the wine retailer if they shipped it during warm weather. Of course an oxidized wine can also be due to a flawed cork (one with a seam) that allows oxygen to enter the bottle. Again, no retailer can cause that.

Your comments about the unpredictable nature of cork taint notwishtstanding, I thought it was noteworthy to mention the retailer since for this particular wine and vintage, many CT tasting notes mention flawed bottles of various types, and in that context it seemed worthy of mention.
