1997 Ridge Monte Bello

Community Tasting Note

Saturday, April 28, 2012 - At first this was quite full and ripe and played to the cliche of the over-done US red wine but time in glass really allowed this to show its undoubted class. Charcoal, black fruit, fine tannins and structure wrapped around pashmina soft fruit. Really elegant and just creeping into a decent drinking window. Truth be told, I think it needs another 5 years to let it mature a touch more and really strut its stuff. This really is quite an excellent wine - just do it justice and let it age properly.
