Saturday, October 27, 2012 - Double-decanted for 4 hours then fully decanted for a further 2 hours before serving. Dark semi-opaque black-red colour. Nose is restrained but very impressively pitch-perfect blackberry, blackcurrant aand blueberry fruit enwrapped with graphite, pencil lead and nicely integraed oak and tannins. Palate follows the nose....... a gorgeous sensation of grippy Bordeaux just entering its opening drinking window with enough touch of fruit-emphasised power to clearly identify it as a New World tier-1 play on Bordeaux. Great enjoyment in the mouth and on the finish. A really super wine.....and it really showed how the "good old days" of when Napa produced 12.5% alcohol wines made them something very special. It has come on a long way since I last drank it in August 2008. I have probably underscored this because Todd and I drank it distracted by family who wanted to finish dinner quickly and get outside for the communal Halloween party.
