88 Points

Monday, July 13, 2009 - Bought and cellared on release. Decanted 45 minutes. Very dark. A classic, predictable west-coast offense - big california fruit bomb. Black fruits, menthol, sweet, and too soft. Alcohol is prominent, extraction and concentration overwhelm the reference to a venerable Napa commune. "Stags Leap District" is on the label, but it would be difficult to attribute this wine to any specific vineyard or commune. It is big. $55-65... would recommend other options at this price range.
