93 Points

Friday, August 31, 2012 - Dark red. Purchased 6 at release and stored at 55. If I remember, first year of 1.5 replacing Cab. Sauvignon name on the bottle. Good father- son story on the new name. This needs some open time as you would expect from a Shafer Cab. As a Cali Cab this is a solid 93 pts. Nice nose of dark fruits, coffee. So rich and structured, but not overly "fruity" as you would expect from Shafer. Balanced long finish with soft but notiicable tannins and hints of spicy tobacco. Maturing nicely with 5 to 10 years left.
