Saturday, March 7, 2009 - D and I had gone to Shafer winery last summer for a great tour/tasting and it was time to try one of my bottles in honor of that. Decanted for 1 1/2 hours. Very concentrated nose of black currant, other dark fruits and vanilla. Initially, the tannins were still strong but mellowed and integrated over the next hour. Ended up with a concentrated taste of blackberry, cherry, vanilla in a silky body with a medium length finish. In fact, the lack of a long finish was the only disappointment with this bottle. Very happy with how its performing right now.
