Saturday, May 24, 2014 - paired with Peking Duck at the Peking Gourmet Inn in Falls Church VA. On opening, I thought this might have been heat damaged. It improved over the course of the meal but never quite got to where it had been when I tasted the wine about 16 months ago. Still, a terrific pairing and well enjoyed. The wine was maroon headed toward brownish and after about 30 minutes being open it started to fill the glass with some interesting funk. In the mouth I got some of the blood & mushrooms that I remembered, though with a slight tinge of heat that I did not get last time. This is fully mature and I think it's only going to head downhill from here.
