Saturday, February 3, 2007 - Y2 day in the Librije, Zwolle, Netherlands. (Yquem tasting) (De Librije, Zwolle, Netherlands.): Amber colour, but more like cognac. Darker than 1925. Also here at first a slightly oxidised scent which disappears quickly. Dark sweet caramel present in the bouquet, like that of dates. A lot of sweetness. Full bodied wine with a high concentration. Very little soft bitterness and orange peel. Striking difference between 1925 and 1936 is that in 1925 acidity plays the major role and in the much darker 1936 it is the sweetness that rules. An overwhelming aftertaste. The wine is still developing in the mouth.
