2002 Mer Soleil Chardonnay

Community Tasting Note

88 Points

Monday, May 11, 2009 - Enjoyed as one of the introductory white wines earlier this evening during the social get-together prior to the main tasting at the Hickory Wine club. Overall very good but very oaky and buttery, stylistically very typical for big high-end Napa chards. Smooth, medium mouth feel, silky, surprisingly complex. Nose primarily of oak with hint of vanilla and flowers. Primary flavors definitely of well balanced oak and butter with complex burnt sugar and some orange and citrus. Well made wine but not to my taste, I prefer a drier and crispier style of white.
