Saturday, April 5, 2014 - A Flight of 2005 CDPs: The 2005 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape is dark purple in colour with a herbaceous nose of tea leaves, slight cinnamon, dried raisins, sour cherries and slight vanilla notes.

On the palate, the wine lies strongly on its herbaceous palate and is rather dark and smoky. Dark raisins persists alongside sour cherries. A bit of a barnyard finish. A tad bit of weight there, but the wine is rather 'all over the palate'. I'm not too sure if this can sustain and develop well in the years to come.
