Thursday, April 9, 2015 - Workshop Faculty Dinner (My House, Denver, CO): This was an amazing wine to end the dinner with and a stellar match to the brioche, which turned out to be lighter and less sweet than I feared. This wine had a rivetingly complex nose of sweet peach, pear, citrus, straw, burnt caramel, vanilla, and intense mineral. As expected, but not predicted from the richly sweet nose, this wine is lithe on the palate as the mineral and tingly acidity make their presence known from the moment the wine hits the palate. No cloying sweetness or protruding etoh at all. For once a dessert wine that enhanced a dessert (and vice versa; bravo Lucas).
