Friday, April 10, 2009 - Very good, a really pleasant surprise, quite a mature Central Valley CA petit sirah enjoyed earlier tonight with Kim at Cafe 1859 in Hickory NC. Never had this wine before, in fact had never heard of the producer before but nothing else really interested us on the limited wine list. Inky black, big and bold, full bodied, almost a raw element to this wine yet nicely balanced with a long aftertaste. Nose big and bold and full of dark stone fruit, tar and menthol with primary flavors of dark fruit, cassis, cigar box, allspice and blakc pepper. A very good QPR at this price point even for a restaurant and I really recommend this for lovers of big CA petit sirahs.
