Saturday, September 11, 2004 - This one was released a while ago from the winery. I managed to get six bottles, but after enjoying it twice in the last few months, I wish I could get cases more. Trying to hold on to the other four is going to be a hard task.
Ruby red with clear fading around the rim. Elegant and very pleasant aromas of spices combined with wild fruits. Might be hard to categorize as traditional Rioja aromas, but still lovely and inviting. Full body, loaded with interesting and different flavors of tobacco, cherries, gooseberries and spices. Incredibly slick balance and structure, including lovely acidity (truly!), very slight toasted oak and soft integrated tannins. Feels great, and easy to enjoy. Nice long finish. Overall a wonderful and delightful wine, that though is not completely your typical Rioja, is unique and loaded with personality. Mature and ready, but will last much longer. (Retasted: 11/06/04)
