Friday, August 16, 2013 - A very nice bottle, though still quite young, it's drinking very well right now. There are aromas of blackberry, cigar box, licorice, cedar, earth and hints of barnyard and crushed stone. Very good nose. Although palate is a bit tight, it exhibits creamy texture with notes of tobacco and red cherry, mid-palate is a bit thin. Not as tannic as originally thought, round and polished, though the finish does carry a sense of heat and bitterness. The wine is at a good place right now, yet can develop further with some more time in the cellar.

We are thinking around 10 years from now, but that's quite a Dark Art to get your arms around. It also has to do with personal preference, so ultra-impossible. We never expect anyone to give a more or less educated guess, but it's nevertheless quite giving to share other ppl's opinions and thoughts. And, as fans, we'd love particularily to share yours.
We had two btls recently, and decided to let this Madame rest for ~10 years before the next pop. We have 3 bls left and are eagerly looking forward to harvesting, but know from history that nothing can speed up a great delivery.

I wanted to give this wine a try (a friend brought it to dinner once, but didn't remember too strongly), I have couple bottles at home. The nose actually surprised me with its openness, it was really nice. Palate didn't follow thru as nicely, a bit muted, but with good structure. I'd give it another try in 5 years or so, just to see how the secondary nuances develop. I actually found the tannins softer than expected, so it'd be good to check it out again in a few years. This wine is less than full bodied, think it'd go best with less heavy food pairing. Cheers!

8/20/2013 8:29:00 AM - I am very grateful for your review! I have a magnum of this wine and was considering opening it at a dinner next week, but in retrospect, I think I will wait a few years... Did you pair it with a meal?

8/20/2013 7:02:00 PM - Hi Dabolts, thanks for the comment, and happy to know that the tasting note is helpful to you. This bottle was consumed over two days, first day over a light home chinese dinner (living in Hong Kong, haha), and second day with some cheese and crackers. The wine is not that full bodied, I think it'd be better to pair with chicken, duck or veal meat. Another 3-5 years should add some nice touches to the wine. Cheers
