Friday, February 13, 2015 - Sour apple on the nose, with hints of grapefruit and marzipan. Crisp apple and fino sherry flavors predominate, suggesting excess acetaldehyde, although not so much as to make it unquaffable. I'm not sure what happened to the demi in demi-sec as the wine comes across as quite dry, albeit with a round and pleasant mouthfeel. Overall an interesting, challenging wine, but not one I'd want to drink every day. DAY 2 UPDATE: This was better on the second day -- although the apple and fino sherry notes were still fairly prominent, the wine came across as more balanced and, frankly, pleasurable. The presumed hint of RS showed up more as a sense of richness and fullness of body, rather than sweetness per se. I would drink this with roast chicken or turkey.
