79 Points

Friday, May 6, 2005 - At best this was okay. Rich golden color, pleasant enough nose, but oddly effervescent out of the bottle; while the bubbles did diminish over the course of an hour, they never left entirely, and imparted a sharp note that was not appropriate to the wine. Sufficient flavor, but no dominant theme; not much oakiness (although some in the background), some buttery notes, but then . . . nothing. If I'm not to succomb to grade inflation here, and I take the 100-point rating scale seriously, then this is no better than a 79. I won't be looking for any more bottles, at least not in this vintage (which seems to have worn out its welcome).
