Saturday, March 30, 2013 - Deep plum appearance. Restrained, but a few moments in the decanter reveal black currants, black cherries, chocolate, conifer, eucalyptus, and a whiff of meat on the nose. The aromas carry over where the flavors are layered with firm, ripe tannins and notes of plum, root vegetables, and an exotic Dr. Pepper-like middle-spice. Really opens up with air, developing touches of cigar box, pencil lead, creme de cassis, and a dark chocolate tug on the finish. Old School in style, structured, elegant, and balanced. This will age well.
