Friday, May 29, 2015 - Blood red. Initial nose of red raspberries, cherries and apples. As it opened, it evolved to camphor, mint and the sharpness of alcohol. Initial tastes were red fruits and an overwhelming alcoholic heat. This eventually burned off. The wine needed at least 2 hours to open, and once it did, the notes were milk chocolate, camphor, tobacco, ripe plums and a hint of tart cherries and alcohol on the finish. The acids are soft and integrated. This is a huge, chewy wine, but too alcoholic. A couple of more years in bottle will help.
