Monday, February 16, 2009 - Opened and decanted 1/2 of the bottle, recorked the rest to drink day 2.
Initial nose was restrained, tight. After about 1 hour it began to open up with a wonderful boquet of flowers, leather, dark fruits, light oak, and earth. On the palate it was multilayered with a very nice acidity, smooth tanins, and a long lingering finish. Very elegant and exceptionally balanced. Medium to full bodied. More akin to a recent Chateau Palmer I've had to a California cabernet. The wine continued to grow with complexity and depth with more time.
Day 2. Retained it's fruit and nose with no sign of oxidation. It had grown in weight and complexity overnight. Wonderful wine. I'm glad I have 4 more to keep. Perhaps 3-4 years before the next one gets opened.
