Saturday, April 13, 2013 - Some barnyard odor upon opening, so gave it about 2 hours of air time to develop in the open bottle; somewhat feminine nose, fresh cedar wood, ripe apples and plums, and hints of dark berries and cherries; acidic and medium to full-bodied palate, dark berries, exotic spices, cassises, licorice, stewed plums, partially integrated oakiness, and moderately softened tannins; medium+ long finish, dark berries, licorice, ground black pepper, stewed plums again, and a touch of brown sugar; not sure if it was already going down the hill or not; but a bit less smooth and enjoyable than what I was expecting, as the oakiness still quite noticeable; so 88-89 points at this stage; however, 6 hours later, it became smoother, fruitier, and more enjoyable on the palate; so 89-90 points thanks to the further improvement; but if my memory served me right, the 2007 vintage tasted some time ago was better (91-92 points, no note taken).
