92 Points

Monday, July 18, 2011 - A few stars from dinner (Lake Forest, IL): Far more approachable than a 95 LaTache a few weeks ago. Very perfumed red fruit on the nose that was surprisingly also showing a good deal of secondary character, much more than I'd expect for a 1995 today. Palate was exactly the same - gobs of red fruit, lots of mushroom and good spice. Moderate length mostly showcasing the spice. A real success for the vintage, since I find lots of 95s with structure that will outlast any remnant of fruit in the wine. I'd be drinking the RSV sooner rather than later if this bottle is representative.
