Sunday, December 23, 2012 - A bit of a shock (I've had this wine several times over the years and consider it to be a good Leoville Barton more open-knit than usual due to the rain at the end of vintage in 1999) as this is dominated by hard green flavoured tannins. The fruit up-front seems to have fallen away with some bottle age. Fortunately, and surprisingly, breathing helped soften and bring forward flavour. Maybe a bad bottle, but I suspect I have to lower my estimation of this wine. Consider it risky.
