Sunday, April 18, 2010 - Popped and poured. Medium-plus garnet, touch of rust. Initially quite funky on the nose but quickly opens to reveal nicely developed aromas of plummy dark fruits, forest floor, barbecue smoke, cedar shavings, and a hint of anise. Medium-plus body. On the palate, the fruit has mellowed yet has great freshness, with flavors of dark berries, currant, fresh herbs, tar, and cedar. Tannins are smooth and refined on the persistent finish. This is drinking beautifully right now but should certainly hold for a few more years.
