Wednesday, December 29, 2010 - Popped and poured. Medium-plus garnet hue. Open aromatically, with nice notes of plummy dark fruits, currant, fresh herbs, and a touch of toasted oak. Medium-plus body. On the palate, the flavors are strong in presentation yet completely balanced...think black cherry, plum, anise, and again a bit of spice and smoke from toasted oak. The tannins are well-integrated on the moderate-plus close. Although maybe lacking a bit of complexity, this Merlot has really come around over the past few years and is drinking wonderfully at present, with flavors lingering on well after the fact. Nice juice.
