Wednesday, July 29, 2015 - {screwcap, 13.5%} Dark and malty wine which needed lots of air to open in any way. Hours later, there's some spice to offset the otherwise unrelentingly dark cabernet fruit aromas; the palate is tight, with fine-grained medium powdery tannins and medium acidity. Black olives and currents are the flavours; the wine has some mid-palate presence and a medium-length finish which feels like it's well short of its peak. Medium-bodied, not over-oaked, but rather sullen and resentful at present. More cellar time or along decant needed. Less overtly dark-green/spearmint/menthol-flavoured than previous vintages, which is a good thing in every way for me.
