Tuesday, February 5, 2013 - So "Napa cab" is now code for something that you would drizzle over ice cream or pancakes, huh? Seriously, this is the 3rd napa cab in a row that I had high hopes for, and instead, it's cloying, oaked to all hell, syrupy and sickeningly sweet. No acid whatsoever to stand up to a grilled new york strip and wimpy tannins. Decanted for 1.5 hours. Reviews here made me think this is ready.
Day 2 and 4, I had a glass each day with some VERY spicy chili that I made, and it was a surprising and winning combination. The heavy heavy sweet flavors of this wine made for a great contrast to the spicy chili, sort of like a sweet white wine with spicy asian food or an Amarone with beef stew.
