Sunday, October 12, 2008 - At Lionel and Rachel's. My first Bonnezeaux. A yellow gold wine. Interesting, but not the most impressive of wines. This tasted really fortified, so I suspect that there may some kind of flaw. Almost like a white port, this showed figs, nuts and soy sauce on the nose, along with a slight floral, bergamot scent hovering around the edges of the wine. The palate was dense and oily in texture, rather heavy and leaden footed in spite of a lemony acid character undergirding fig and sultana flavours which carried into a longish, mouth puckering finish. Not the best pairing with the Eumenthal we had, which was a little more herbal.
