A bit hollow and slightly vegetal, it was surprisingly disjoint, but giving how 1996s are showing these days, maybe I shouldn't have been surprised. Did get a bit better with air, but was never great. If you have bottles, I'd hold for 10 years and try again. Maybe 1996 is one of those vintages where the wines have to be fairly old to be enjoyable. At least it wasn't expensive.
