Not a good sign. That's why I love Wine Spectator. They are so often wrong, there's still excitement about opening a bottle they tried. This bottle was not a great Champagne. But it was a very nice Champagne, and still going strong. Still had decent carbonation. Mature, but not over the hill by any means. No notes of sherry or oxidation. Not perfectly balanced, but a lot going on, and an extremely pleasant bottle.
