Saturday, September 12, 2015 - Damn you, Veuve. Your NV bottling is always a crapshoot. This wasn't as fresh as the last bottle. Green apple, lime, and stonefruit notes are oxidized and somewhat tired. To its credit it did display enough of an active bead, tension, and brioche to tame the oxidization party.

9/17/2015 6:25:00 PM - Thanks for your note and rating. Interesting...we were gifted this bottle. Otherwise, we have not sipped VC since retiring and discontinuing our business/social cocktail party activities where we often encountered this bubble. We will have to remedy that soon by sipping this wine...and entering the "crapshoot" :-)!

9/17/2015 8:04:00 PM - BuzzzzOff!! What's up, man?! Long time no comment. Yeah, Veuve NV is a crapshoot; Robert Parker once said that the drinking window for NV Champagne is 15 minutes - or something like that. My niece, who is very generous with her cellar, loves NV Veuve and she pops a few bottle everytime we get together. If only she liked classed growth Bordeaux or some Romanee Conti! At any rate, I get a kick out of your website/blog. You are a lucky pair. By the way, I really get a shill out the Mental Masturbation section. I think we have lots in common. Like attracts Like in the Universe, my friend!

Very cool to have a niece willing to be generous with her bubbles. Enjoy it...bubbles to our nieces, nay our entire families, means, on a good day, Coca Cola :-(. Indeed, a niece with fine Bordeaux or Burgundy collection and a passion for sharing would be like pennies from heaven...or drops of liquid gold...take your pick. We also think seeing pigs fly would be pretty cool, but we are not holding our breath :-). Thanks regarding our website/blog, especially the Mental Masturbation. Truth...like does attract like!!! Do you have a cellar at home for your 1,000+ bottles? Mega fun! Yes, we are lucky to have each other...the Universe working its magic yet again ;-). Not to sound commercial, but did you reach deep into your pocket to buy our first eBook, i.e. GastroNaughties’ Gallivant Sipping’n Snacking California Central Coast and Las Vegas? Given you are in San Diego, we would be interested in your perspective.

9/18/2015 7:08:00 PM - No problem...we also look at all the free and some the paid stuff.

We built a "wine room/cellar" two years ago and brought home all our wines from external storage. Inventoried all of them...while sipping...so some errors :-) Fun!!!

9/18/2015 7:34:00 PM - Nope. We are in Asia. Prohibited to dig an underground cellar so we had to go for the next best thing...better than having a guest room for often unwanted guests ;-)
